Surface treatment "chemical conversion" for rust prevention of aluminum die casting ADC12.

About the chemical treatment (trivalent chromate treatment) of Silbeck's aluminum die casting ADC12.

■ Corrosion Prevention Measures for Aluminum Die Casting ADC12: Surface Treatment for Rust Prevention Silvec has extensive know-how in rust prevention treatments for aluminum die casting ADC12 and can provide original technology solutions. ■ Corrosion Resistance and Surface Treatment of Aluminum Die Casting ADC12 Aluminum die casting ADC12 is the most widely used aluminum die casting material, accounting for over 90% of production ratios among aluminum die casting alloys, due to its good castability, mechanical properties, and machinability. However, its corrosion resistance is relatively poor among aluminum die casting materials, and rust prevention treatment may be necessary depending on the application. The representative treatments for rust prevention of aluminum die casting ADC12 include the following four types: 1. Plating 2. Anodizing 3. Chemical treatment (trivalent chromate treatment) 4. Cationic electrodeposition coating

basic information

■ ADC12 Conversion Treatment ■ Trivalent Chromium System The conversion treatment for ADC12 involves chemically reacting directly with the surface of ADC12 to precipitate a conversion coating. Hexavalent chromium-based conversion treatments (such as Alodine) cannot comply with the RoHS directive due to the presence of hexavalent chromium in the coating, but this trivalent chromium-based conversion treatment complies with the RoHS directive. As a company achievement, the corrosion resistance of trivalent chromium-based conversion treatment (as an alternative to Alodine) applied to flowing ADC12 material clears the JIS salt spray test for 72 hours with a rating of R.N9.8. ■ Non-Chromium Conversion Treatment (Zirconium System) In cases where a completely chromium-free requirement is needed, we recommend this zirconium-based conversion treatment. Although its corrosion resistance is lower compared to the trivalent chromium-based conversion treatment, it is often used as a primer for painting.
