This method is very simple and has high specificity and high sensitivity.
By adding cerium sulfate, the sample is oxidized, converting all forms of chromium into hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)). Then, by adding diphenylcarbazide, a red-purple chromogenic compound is produced through the reaction with Cr(VI).
