Direct full-color printing is performed on Mitsubishi Plastics' "Hishi Metal REX-UV" (UV printing metal media) using an LED UV curing inkjet printer. Hishi Metal is a material that layers a clear UV ink-receptive film on aluminum, providing better adhesion between the media and UV ink compared to direct UV printing on the metal substrate, and it also exhibits excellent chemical resistance to alcohol, thinner, and oils. This has achieved a reduction in the costs and production time associated with plate making that were previously incurred in silk screen printing and other methods.
