Vanadium (V) has the characteristic of having a small negative value for the interference scattering wavelength, but it is not zero. Therefore, a Bragg peak originating from vanadium is detected. Soleil Mining Co. has successfully developed sample containers that minimize this peak to nearly zero by adding elements to the vanadium.
