The SOLAS Convention has been amended by the International Maritime Organization, and starting from July 1, 2016, it has become mandatory in Japan for shippers (consignors) to confirm the weight of containers used for international transport and declare it to the shipping company or its agents before loading. Regarding the methods for measuring weight, both the method of weighing the container as a whole and the summation method are permitted. U-frame scale
