The biggest feature of hard anodizing is that it has a "thick film thickness" and "very high hardness." General anodizing typically has a film thickness of about 6 to 10 μm, with the main purposes being corrosion resistance and improved appearance. Hard anodizing forms a thick film of over 20 μm (and in some cases, nearly 100 μm). This thick and hard oxide film significantly improves sliding wear resistance and abrasion resistance.
