Uhing Traverse Unit / RG Type
Ewing Corporation, Linear Drive Unit (Rolling Ring Drive) Mechanical Guide Unit (Common Name: Traverser)
Feeding device, guiding device, and reciprocating device using a plain shaft It converts the rotational motion of a round rod, which rotates at a constant speed and in a constant direction, into linear motion to obtain reciprocating motion. The round rod does not require a screw; linear motion can be achieved by pressing a tilted special bearing against it. Additionally, by changing the orientation of the bearing, the direction of motion can be altered even if the rotation direction of the shaft remains constant. These movements are analogous to the relationship between a screw and a nut, but the travel speed (pitch) can be freely set, and the direction of movement can be reversed at any position. ■ The pitch can be changed by altering the tilt of the bearing. ■ High-speed and smooth feeding can be achieved. ■ There is no backlash. ■ A safety mechanism allows the unit to slip in the event of an unexpected collision. ■ The contact-free lever can release the fixation with the shaft. ■ No control or dedicated power is required (power can be obtained from a parallel rotating shaft via a belt, etc.). ■ Bracketed and non-bracketed options are available as needed.
basic information
"Linear Drive Unit" manufactured by Uhing in Germany Founded in 1943, Uhing obtained a patent for the principle of linear drive developed in 1952 and has been engaged in research and development of this technology for over 65 years. Currently, it exports to more than 38 countries and has established over 35 overseas sales agents. The unit, which allows for speed setting and provides linear reciprocating motion from a round rod with constant rotation and no screws, has attracted attention as a very distinctive mechanical element in various industries. It is primarily used as a winding guide for textile products, including electric wires. The patent has now expired, and it is one of the manufacturers with the most copied products.
