Calandria-type crystal can
Crystallization cans for refined sugar engineering
**Principle** This is a batch-type crystallizer mainly used in the sugar refining process. After supplying a refined sugar solution (syrup), the heating pipes installed inside the crystallizer are heated with steam. This heating section is called the calandria. The sugar solution is evaporatively concentrated while circulating through the heating pipes and down-take due to thermal circulation and agitation. When the concentration of the syrup progresses and reaches a predetermined level, fine sugar known as seed crystals is supplied. The crystallizer continues to evaporatively concentrate while adding syrup, allowing the sugar crystals to grow to the desired size. **Features** Efficient sugar boiling operation A specially designed marine-type stirring blade is installed in the down-take at the center of the calandria. By planning and designing the rise velocity of the syrup inside the heating pipes, the number of heating pipes, and the specifications of the stirrer according to the operating conditions (syrup, utilities, installation location, product), efficient sugar boiling operations can be achieved. Improved production efficiency and energy savings By installing a fully automatic sugar boiling device and implementing sugar boiling operations suitable for the target product, the sugar boiling cycle time can be shortened, resulting in improved production efficiency, energy savings, and enhanced product quality.
