UL Solutions has expanded the capabilities of its Ise headquarters safety testing laboratory to provide services compliant with the Lease Law for consumer products incorporating button batteries or coin batteries, and has begun offering evaluation, testing, and report issuance services to comply with UL 4200A. Compliance with ANSI/UL 4200A can be demonstrated through a letter report provided by UL Solutions.

On September 21, 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) approved and adopted the safety standard ANSI/UL 4200A-2023 for products incorporating button batteries or coin batteries, as a safety standard for performance and labeling requirements that meet the safety standards of 16 CFR 1263 "Safety Standard for Button Cell or Coin Batteries and Consumer Products Containing Such Batteries," in order to establish compliance with the Battery Safety Act. This regulation will take effect on March 19, 2024. ---- *UL 4200A: Safety standard for products incorporating button batteries or coin batteries. UL 4200A has been adopted as the safety standard for performance and labeling requirements for button batteries or coin batteries and consumer products containing such batteries under 16 CFR 1263. *Battery Safety Act: The Battery Safety Act, signed by President Biden on August 16, 2022, mandates safety requirements for button batteries and coin batteries. Its purpose is to eliminate or adequately reduce the risk of injury to children under 6 years old from swallowing button batteries or coin batteries in foreseeable use or misuse situations.
