Vaisala's refractometer is installed at the outlet of the distillation apparatus for the purpose of detecting alcohol concentration after vacuum distillation. It enables continuous measurement of alcohol concentration, allowing for the quantification of quality and maintenance-free operation. This document presents a case study of how Nikka Whisky Corporation solved challenges in the shochu production process. We have compiled easy-to-understand information about Vaisala's refractometer, which served as the key to the solution.
