PR-23-RP Process Refractometer
Liquid concentration measurement for the oil and gas industry
The Vaisala K-PATENTS PR-23-G process refractometer is a robust model designed for refining processes that meet the specific requirements of the refining and petroleum industries. Typical applications include accurate liquid concentration measurement. Examples of the subjects include sulfuric acid in alkylation, glycols and amines in gas treatment, potassium hydroxide (KOH), as well as boundaries of multiple products (crude oil, fuel oil, diesel) in transfer operations, and lubricating oils in refining processes.
basic information
To install the refractometer sensor within the process, it can be directly installed using stud welding or by using a 1 to 3-inch cross-flow cell. The robust and innovative non-welded sensor body, along with the PR-23-RP that features self-cleaning or optional automatic cleaning system functionality, operates accurately and reliably under the harsh conditions of a refinery. For installation in hazardous locations, intrinsic safety explosion-proof and hazardous location certifications can be provided. The measurement range is a weight ratio of 0 to 100%. The accuracy is typically ±0.1 weight %, and the measurements are automatically temperature compensated. Additionally, alarms for low and high concentrations can be set. Thanks to digital sensing technology, the presence of large amounts of suspended solids, bubbles, or color changes does not affect measurement or accuracy. Each sensor comes with a calibration certificate that allows for comparison of the actual sensor output with a standard set of liquids. Calibration and accuracy can be verified on-site using certified refractive index liquids and Vaisala's procedures.
