Animal/Plant DNA identification testing for verifying the authenticity of raw materials and food labeling.
Identification of unknown animal/plant species through DNA analysis. Providing scientific support for the investigation of species that are difficult to distinguish visually and for product labeling.
We offer animal/plant DNA identification tests that compare the DNA of samples with a database and report the species of animals and plants. 【Features of the Test】 ◆ Overwhelming number of species covered The reference database currently includes approximately 46,000 animal species and about 113,000 plant species. Therefore, for major animals and plants, identification is possible by comparing with registered DNA. If there is no registration, identification may be at the genus or family level. *Samples suspected of toxicity or infection (such as dead animals or birds) cannot be accepted. ◆ Identification using next-generation sequencers We compare the DNA sequences of the samples with the species registered in the database and report the identification results, findings, and the top five closely related species. By employing next-generation sequencing technology, it is possible to obtain results even from samples that cannot be tested using traditional methods known as Sanger sequencing. *For more details, please request a catalog or view the PDF data available for download.
basic information
≪Testable Forms≫ Animal-derived materials, plant-derived materials ≪Required Sample Volume (Guideline)≫ Tissue fragments of 1 cm or more. *Samples smaller than this can still be accepted, but the likelihood of obtaining test results may increase due to the amount and condition of the DNA present. ≪Testing Method≫ Base sequence determination using next-generation sequencers ≪Databases Used≫ Analysis is conducted based on data registered with international DNA sequence databases such as DDBJ (Japan), NCBI (USA), ENA / EBI (Europe), as well as data collected in-house. ≪Report Contents≫ Sample photographs, identification results, findings (only if information is available to us), identity with the five closest related species (in percentage)

Applications/Examples of results
Identification of plant and animal species that are difficult to distinguish visually! This can be utilized in various situations, such as providing scientific backing for product labeling and responding to inquiries. ≪Case Studies≫ Case 1: Verification of authenticity for high-end ingredients, health foods, and pharmaceutical raw materials Example 1: I want to know if the extract used in soft capsules is derived from soft-shelled turtles. Example 2: I want to investigate whether the herbal raw material I purchased is truly Angelica. Case 2: Verification of labels for imported and exported raw materials Example 1: I want to confirm that what was imported from overseas is indeed cilantro. Example 2: I want to verify the labeling of shrimp imported from overseas. Case 3: Confirmation of species that are difficult to distinguish visually Example 1: I want proof that the ingredient used in mozzarella cheese is buffalo milk, not cow's milk. Example 2: I want to investigate which vegetable the plant fragment found as a foreign object originates from.
