Simerics MP+ is a fluid simulation tool designed to calculate the transient characteristics of various volumetric pumps, compressors, and valves. It is developed based on the thermal fluid simulation tool Simerics MP and utilizes all the features of Simerics MP. 【The following fluid analyses are possible】 ■ Free surface flow ■ Flow considering the compressibility of air contained in liquids ■ Pressure pulsation and water hammer effects ■ Coupling of pump flow with the rigid body motion of valves and cam rings ■ Flow in low to medium vacuum conditions ■ Compressible flow (subsonic) ■ Cavitation ■ Time variation of flow field (velocity vectors, pressure), flow rate, fluid forces, and torque The biggest strength is the ability to automatically create meshes even for clearances in the micrometer range, which is difficult for other general-purpose fluid analysis software!! Recently, there has been an increase in achievements with oil pumps for automobiles and construction machinery, with examples such as vane pumps for power steering and CVTs, and trochoid pumps for engine lubrication. *There is a lot of information that cannot be posted online. (1) Automatic generation of calculation meshes! Even for complex flow paths, automatic generation of calculation meshes is possible with simple button operations. Additionally, for pump chambers involving rotation/volume changes, high-precision calculation meshes can be automatically generated using a dedicated mesh creation module. It is possible to automatically execute the movement/rotation/deformation of high-precision meshes without tedious tasks. (2) Fluid analysis of various gear pumps is possible! Simerics MP+ has a mesh creation function for various pumps, including different gear pumps, making it easy to perform calculations for a variety of pumps. It also has a mesh creation function for valves, allowing for calculations of flow paths that include valves, and coupled analysis is possible. (3) More accurate modeling of aeration/cavitation! It includes a high-precision cavitation model, enabling the prediction of non-condensable gas expansion and vapor generation due to cavitation. (4) Calculation of free surface flow It has become possible to analyze oil lifting within the gearbox and oil suction from the oil pan during pump startup.

We have published a new user case for Simerics' 'PumpLinx', a product handled by our company. You can download the case from the following URL: https://www.ipros.jp/catalog/detail/467444 Kyushu Institute of Technology originated from the private Meiji Technical School established in 1907 and became a national university in 1949. It is the only national university with a Department of Information Engineering and is located in the Kitakyushu industrial area, the largest industrial zone in Kyushu, which is also famous for conducting tests with the Hayabusa (MUSES-C) spacecraft that reached asteroid Itokawa. Last autumn, we received an inquiry from Professor Emeritus Kazuhiro Tanaka of Kyushu Institute of Technology. Subsequently, Professor Shimizu and his students from the Kyo-Shimizu Laboratory conducted an evaluation trial, recognizing the advantages of our software compared to other CFD software they had been using, leading to its adoption. We spoke with Professor Shimizu, and master's students Hirose and Watanabe from the Kyo-Shimizu Laboratory at Kyushu Institute of Technology.
