MotionBoard Case Study: Real-time Monitoring in the Production Site
Real-time monitoring utilizing BI.
■Implementing Company Large Machinery Manufacturer ■Background "Reducing input tasks that do not generate value and quickly identifying the causes of defects to prevent ongoing production of defective products has been a significant challenge in the manufacturing line of multifunction printer components." ■Challenges - There was a cumbersome process of re-entering handwritten daily reports from each line into Excel, along with performing primary and secondary processing. - Further reduction of defect occurrence costs. - Too much manpower was being spent on activities to discover waste, inefficiency, and unevenness to improve productivity. ■Effects - As a result of being able to address issues timely to prevent defects, the number of defects was reduced to one-fifth. - By thoroughly implementing direct input using iPads, the manual input time spent on Excel, which was about 80 minutes daily, was reduced to zero. - The "bottlenecks" in the line became visible, leading to a reduction of overtime by one hour each day.
