■Operating Principle The rotation of the synchronous motor in the viscometer body is transmitted to the rotor via a spring. In the measuring liquid, the viscous friction torque of the liquid acts on the outer circumference of the immersed rotor, and it rotates steadily in a state where this torque is balanced with the force of the spring. The magnitude of the torque is proportional to the deflection angle of the pointer fixed to the rotor shaft, which is read on a scale plate directly connected to the motor shaft. The absolute viscosity is determined from this indicated value and a conversion factor.
