At this time, the dial pointer rotates while pressing the auxiliary pointer (red). When a certain force is applied and the sample is crushed, a slight gap is created between the sample stage and the pressure attachment, causing it to bounce back upwards, leaving the auxiliary pointer behind, while the spring inside the device and the dial pointer also bounce back towards the zero point.

The scale indicated by this auxiliary pointer shows the maximum applied weight at that time and indicates the fracture hardness of the sample (expressed in Newtons). (Note) Before use, please clear the area above the sample platform and set the auxiliary pointer to zero along with the main pointer. (Note) When measuring below one-third of the maximum load, each hardness tester may have an error of approximately ±20% due to the characteristics of the spring.
