Installed radiation intensity sensor

WPLP-RAD-01 measures the radiant intensity (W/m²), defined as the ratio of the radiant flux (W) incident on a surface to the unit area (m²), in the VIS-NIR spectral range (400–1050 nm). These features are applicable to instruments suitable for measurements in the visible and near-infrared regions. The calibration of the probe uses the 577/579 nm line of a Xe-Hg (xenon-mercury) lamp through a spectral interference filter. The outdoor installation type is the MC8P-PHOT3S series.

basic information

■mV Signal Output In the spectral regions of VIS-NIR, UVA, UVB, and UVC, light and radiation amounts are measured as illuminance (lux) or radiance (W/m²). Additionally, it is possible to measure the number of photons per unit time and per unit area in the photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) wavelength range of 400–700 nm. The WPLP series does not require an external power supply. The output signal in mV is obtained through the shunt resistance of the photodiode terminal. The photocurrent generated when the photodiode receives light is converted into a potential difference and read by a voltmeter. Once the potential difference (PD) is read, the measurement is calculated using the calibration coefficient (output coefficient).

Applications/Examples of results

Each probe is calibrated at the factory before shipment and has a unique calibration coefficient (output coefficient). This coefficient is indicated on each individual probe and in the accompanying manual. The WPLP series probes are equipped with cosine correction diffusers. The diffuser for the UV measurement probes is made of polished quartz, while other probes are made of acrylic or Teflon (WPLP-PHOTO-01). The WPLP series probes are designed for measurements in indoor or outdoor environments (excluding UV measurement models) where the above light and radiation levels can be continuously monitored.
