This device is the world's first gloss meter (60°) that can be used not only on very small surface areas but also on curved surfaces. It can be used for checking the finish of curved surfaces in industries such as aerospace parts, automotive bodies, household goods, ceramics, and plastics, as well as for micro-surface checks in printing, photography, textiles, and more. A very thin light beam that reflects from areas as small as 2×2mm is utilized, allowing for the examination of the uniformity of finishes from a series of surface measurements.

To maintain accuracy, the intensity of the light beam is constantly monitored and adjusted. It is equipped with a liquid crystal display (LCD) that automatically calculates and displays the maximum, minimum, and average values of each batch of test results, and also stores them. Additionally, the standard deviation is shown. It can store up to 4,000 readings and can output data to a computer or printer via an RS232 interface as needed.
