To measure "gloss," a beam of light with a certain intensity is directed at the surface of the product at a specific angle, and the amount of light reflected at the same angle is observed. A gloss meter is used to measure this reflected light. The required reflection angle for measurement varies depending on the surface characteristics of the product. ● High-gloss surfaces Well-polished, high-quality surfaces reflect a clear image. This is because the incident light is reflected at the mirror reflection angle. ● Medium-gloss and low-gloss surfaces (matte) The images reflected on medium-gloss and matte surfaces appear faint and blurry. This is because, although the incident light is reflected at the mirror reflection angle, there is also light that is scattered simultaneously.
