Digital Cable Length Measuring Device (Fault Diagnosis Machine) / M749C-200NSG
TDR cable diagnostic and measurement device
■Product Overview The M749C-200NSG is a compact digital TDR that measures the length of power and communication lines as well as the distance to fault points by simply connecting it to one end of the cable. With its built-in TDR, it measures and displays the cable length and the distance to faults such as open or short circuits (up to 2000m). This device displays the cable length, distance to fault points, and other descriptions on a 2×16 bit LCD screen using alphanumeric characters. The built-in library has common cable types pre-registered, allowing for accurate measurements without the need to input propagation speeds. Additionally, the device automatically compensates for the impedance of different cables. It also features a built-in sound oscillator that vibrates regularly, enabling cable tracing and identification using a standard tone probe.

Applications/Examples of results
■Method of Cable Connection <1> Confirm that the target line is de-energized and that no terminal equipment is connected to the target line. (If terminal equipment is connected, confirm that the circuit breaker is tripped.) <2> Confirm that one end of the target line is open or shorted. (There should be no connection to the terminal.) <3> Connect this device to the cable. For cable connection, use the BNC connector located on the top of this device. Use the included alligator clips for connection with stripped cables. ●Coaxial Cable Connect the red alligator clip to the conductor and the black alligator clip to the external conductor (shield layer). ●Shielded Cable Connect the red alligator clip to the conductor adjacent to the insulation and the black alligator clip to the external conductor (shield layer). ●Twisted Pair Spread the two conductors and connect a red or black alligator clip to each. ●Multi-core Cable Connect alligator clips to any two conductors. *There is no polarity for the red and black cables.
