[Case Study] Transportation: Intersection Distributed Traffic Management System
Secure traffic signal control using public networks! We will introduce case studies of implementation at intersections.
In Henrico County, USA, it was decided to upgrade the existing closed-loop traffic signal control system to a distributed traffic management system capable of managing traffic signals at 140 intersections. Before the upgrade, only 25 intersections were interconnected, while the remaining 115 intersections used isolated signal control circuits. The new signal network is based on a distributed architecture, with a central operation center communicating with the signal controllers at each site via the public network for real-time monitoring and emergency response.
