Accurately detect water leaks with sensors and detectors - '3M Leak Detection System'
We promptly and reliably detect and notify leaks inside equipment, piping, and water areas in data centers, semiconductor manufacturing sites, hospitals, and apartments.
The "3M Leak Detection System" adopts a method that detects the resistance between sensor electrodes. It is possible to combine a "detector" that performs judgment control with a "sensor" that detects liquids according to the application. 【Leak Detector】 - When detecting, the alarm lamp lights up, and it can output to an external alarm. - We offer a variety of models, from a general-purpose model with basic performance to models that can detect multiple locations, types that can be integrated into devices or walls, and models that can detect the location of leaks. 【Leak Sensor】 - There are two types: strip sensors and point sensors. The strip sensor is linear and can detect when part of the strip is submerged in liquid, allowing for monitoring of a wide area. - The point sensor can be installed at specific locations where leaks are anticipated or at drains where liquid accumulates, enabling efficient pinpoint monitoring. - The structure ensures that liquids on the sensor do not seep in and can be easily wiped off with a cloth, allowing for a smooth return to normal monitoring after a leak occurs. *For more details, please refer to the catalog PDF or feel free to contact us.

■Construction Example 2: Wrap the band sensor around the piping (secured with cable ties) 【Combination Examples】 (1) Integrate the detector WL-AD-2002-A into the equipment or distribution panel and lay the band sensor S-1FP on the piping. (2) Install the detector WR-NA on the equipment or wall and lay the band sensor S-1FP on the piping.
-
■Construction Example 3: Installation of Point Sensors in Water Areas 【Combination Examples】 (1) Install the detector WR-B1 on the wall and lay the point sensor PS-1R or P-2 at the anticipated leak location. (2) Install the detector WR-NA on the device or wall and lay the point sensor PS-1R or P-2 at the anticipated leak location.

■Construction Example 4: Laying band sensors around multiple devices 【Combination Example】 Install the detector WR-M12-NW on the wall and lay the band sensors B-3P or S-1F around the device.
-
■Construction Example 5: Installation of Point Sensors in Multiple Water Areas 【Combination Example】 Install the detector WR-M12-NW on the wall and lay point sensors PS-1R or P-2 at the locations where water leakage is anticipated.
-
■Detection Method of 3M Leak Detection System 【Normal Condition】 A small current flows through the detection circuit via the termination kit.
-
■Detection Method of 3M's Leak Detection System [During Leak Occurrence] The amount of current flowing through the detection circuit increases due to water. This is detected, and a leak alarm is output.
-
■Detection Method of 3M's Leak Detection System 【In the event of a disconnection】 When the electrical wire of the leak sensor is disconnected, the current flowing through the detection circuit becomes zero. This is detected, and a disconnection alarm is output.

3M Japan Co., Ltd. was founded in 1960 as the first local subsidiary of 3M in Asia. It imports and sells adhesive tapes, reflective materials, adhesives, abrasives, and other products, contributing to Japan's rapid economic growth. In 1961, it established the Sagamihara office, which has become the base for its current research and development activities. In 1970, it established the Yamagata office of 3M Japan Products Co., Ltd., which serves as one of the largest manufacturing bases in Japan and provides products not only to the 3M Japan Group but also to 3M companies overseas as a global "super hub."
