EU Eco-Design Directive

The Eco Design Directive has established minimum efficiency levels for variable speed drives.

The EU has agreed on stricter new regulations (EU) 2019/1781. This sets minimum efficiency levels not only for low-voltage induction motors with direct-on-line ratings but also for variable speed drives up to 1000V, replacing regulation (EC) 640/2009. It will be implemented in two phases on July 1, 2021, and July 1, 2023.
