basic information
The A3pci1586 is a 1G ExpEther slave adapter in a 3U CompactPCI form factor. ExpEther is a technology that propagates PCI Express signals over Ethernet. The ExpEther bridge behaves as a software-transparent PCI Express switch, allowing for the construction of flexible systems equivalent to Ethernet with little or no software modifications. This board is mounted in the system slot of a CompactPCI rack and functions as the device-side bridge for ExpEther. By connecting to the host-side ExpEther Host Bus Adapter, it enables the extension of the PCI Express bus between different enclosures (up to 100m). Ethernet supports 1000BASE-T and can ensure redundancy through a 2-port configuration. Like other products, this product can be customized to meet customer needs. Applications/Examples of results
【Proposal Examples for ExpEther in Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment】 Use Case 1: Wafer Inspection Equipment with High-Resolution Cameras - Since it can be separated into different enclosures, constraints related to component selection (enclosure size, bus, etc.) can be more easily relaxed. - Repairs and updates for individual parts are easier. - It is flexible to change configurations when differentiating performance for each model of the final product. Use Case 2: Storage of Inspection Data By connecting to NVMe in the storage box as PCIe (rather than connecting to SAN through Infiniband, Ethernet, etc.), it is expected that software elements (drivers, etc.) will be reduced, lowering development risks and costs. Use Case 3: Switching from VME CPU Board to BOX PC While ensuring compatibility with legacy systems and reusability of hardware/software, it allows for the adoption of new expansion cards and platforms, enabling gradual hardware upgrades.
