New Color Gamut Evaluation for Displays: Gamut Ring Measurement System
Compliant with international standards! Quantitative evaluation of display color gamut performance through Gamut Ring assessment, free web technology seminar in October.
Aphrodi's "Gamut Ring Evaluation System GR-55" is the latest evaluation tool that quantifies the color gamut performance of displays based on international standards (CIE). Instead of simple comparisons using traditional color gamut coverage or triangular area, it calculates and visualizes the effective color gamut for each hue in a ring shape. It is compatible with all displays and next-generation devices, accurately measuring brightness and chromaticity distribution. By combining the evaluation software GR-55 with a luminance meter, it can be widely applied from research and development to quality assurance. In October, we will hold a free web seminar hosted by our company, and we plan to exhibit at "FINETECH JAPAN" in November. We invite you to experience the latest evaluation methods. We are currently offering free loan of the software (luminance meter). ■ Free web technical seminar in October; seminar information will be announced on our official website in early September → https://aphrodi.jp/category/seminar/ ■ FINETECH JAPAN (Electronic Display Exhibition) Makuhari Messe, November 12-14, 2025.

Applications/Examples of results
The system is being adopted by display manufacturers, material manufacturers, automotive manufacturers, and others. During the development stage, it is used for verifying the color gamut performance of new panels and light-emitting materials, while in manufacturing, it is used to confirm quality stability between lots. Additionally, in the automotive, medical, and broadcasting fields, it can be utilized as third-party comparative data that complies with international standards. It is particularly valued for its ability to visualize the reproduction performance by hue, which is difficult to capture with conventional methods, especially in next-generation devices like OLED and MicroLED. For research purposes, it is also used in academic presentations and international standardization activities, achieving reliable data acquisition. Data from actual cases and details of measurement evaluations are included in the related product technical materials in the catalog, so please download the materials. In the free webinar on October 2025 and at the FINETECH JAPAN exhibition (Electronic Display Expo in Makuhari) held from November 13 to 14, we will introduce case studies and usage methods, and you can see actual measurement demonstrations.
Detailed information
-
Case 1: The measurement results of the LCD monitor and the evaluation data based on BT2020 show that the colors in the gray area are not being reproduced. Coverage rate 79%.
-
Example 2: The measurement results of the LCD monitor and the evaluation data based on sRGB satisfy the sRGB standard. Coverage rate 96%.
-
Case 3: Measurement data comparing organic EL and LCD displays, with characteristics of each color easily understood and quantified.
