In addition to being lighter compared to conventional plastics containing glass fibers, it also helps in addressing abandoned bamboo forests. Bamboo fibers with a diameter of 0.1 mm to 0.2 mm and a length of about 10 mm can be extracted from bamboo, which can then be mixed with polypropylene or polylactic acid, resulting in a plastic with a high content of up to 60% bamboo fibers. While maintaining strength and rigidity equivalent to conventional materials containing 10% glass fibers used in automotive parts, it can also be lightweight. Due to the inclusion of bamboo fibers, the use of petroleum-based plastics is reduced, contributing to carbon dioxide reduction, and stable supply is expected, making it widely applicable as an environmental conservation material, such as for addressing abandoned bamboo forests.
