basic information
This is a window made with Borofloat (borosilicate glass) from Schott (Germany), which excels in heat resistance and is ideal for use under harsh conditions. Borofloat is manufactured using the float method and has a substrate surface accuracy of 4 to 6 λ per inch (25.4 mm). As a result, it minimizes wavefront distortion and has excellent light transmission across a wide wavelength range. Borofloat has more than three times the thermal shock resistance compared to standard soda-lime glass (blue plate glass) and possesses a low thermal expansion coefficient similar to Tempax and Pyrex. It also has excellent chemical resistance, high water, neutral, and acid resistance, and is a colorless, transparent glass that is strong against organic substances such as chlorides, bromides, and iodides.
