basic information

Unlike standard beam splitters that use dielectric films, this allows for a specified R/T ratio beam division over a wide wavelength range. The polka dot beam splitter, as its name suggests, consists of an aluminum film with a polka dot pattern (actually square-shaped) of a specified size deposited on a synthetic quartz substrate. When light is incident on this element, the polka dot aluminum film reflects the incident light at a specified ratio and transmits the remainder through the areas without the film. Due to the principle of reflection and transmission, the R/T characteristics have little dependence on the angle of incidence (although the size of the polka dot film is optimized for an incidence angle of 45°). Therefore, it is ideal for energy division applications with light sources that emit divergent light. Similar to angle dependence, it does not depend on the characteristics of the substrate or the polarization state of the incident light. With a substrate thickness of only 1.5mm, there is also no energy loss. *You can download the catalog from Edmund Optics Japan that features this product from the link below.
