basic information

TECHSPEC synthetic quartz wedge prisms provide low thermal expansion coefficients and high transmission characteristics from UV to NIR. TECHSPEC synthetic quartz wedge prisms can be used singly or in pairs to deflect laser beams. When the prism is rotated with a laser as the light source, the trajectory describes a circle. They are ideal for beam steering applications. The ability to deflect with a single wedge prism is expressed in diopters. One diopter is the amount that can shift a beam by 1 cm at a distance of 1 m. The deflection angle (Td) for different wavelengths (refractive indices) can be approximated by (n - 1) x [wedge angle].
