basic information
The master product of the holographic diffraction grating is created by recording interference fringes generated by two laser light sources onto a photoresist. This product is a replica, where the grating shape of the master product is transferred onto an epoxy resin coated on a glass substrate, and a reflective metal film is applied to the surface to create a reflective diffraction grating. Unlike blazed diffraction gratings, which have a sawtooth grating shape, holographic diffraction gratings have a sinusoidal grating shape (however, some holographic diffraction gratings are specially manufactured with a rounded sawtooth grating shape). Since this grating shape is created optically, the accuracy of the grating shape and the precision of the grating frequency far exceed those of blazed diffraction gratings. Therefore, there is a characteristic feature that the occurrence of stray light (ghost images), which is a concern when using blazed diffraction gratings, is almost nonexistent. *You can download the "Optical Components & Optical Instruments Comprehensive Catalog <Sample Version>" from Edmund Optics Japan below.
