List of Short Pass Filters

Short delivery time with stock sales! All items available for sale from one piece.

Edmund Optics offers a variety of short pass filters that function in the ultraviolet, visible, or infrared ranges. The TECHSPEC high-performance OD 4 short pass filter provides maximum transmission and excellent blocking capability. The TECHSPEC dichroic short pass filter features low polarization dependence and a wide spectral range, and it employs a hard coating that is excellent for environmental resistance. We also offer a short pass edge filter kit composed of Edmund Optics' most popular short pass edge filters. For more details, please visit the official Edmund Optics website via the link below.

basic information

The short pass filter, also known as a short pass edge filter, is used to transmit wavelengths shorter than the filter's cutoff wavelength. Short pass filters are commonly used in life science applications, including implementation in fluorescence microscopes and various devices. While short pass filters are typically designed for normal incidence at 0°, dichroic short pass filters are designed for use at an incidence angle of 45°. Short pass filters can be used in conjunction with long pass filters to custom build band pass filters that selectively transmit part of the spectrum while blocking the transmission of all other wavelengths. Some short pass edge filters can also be used as hot mirrors to minimize unwanted heat transmission caused by infrared radiation. The term "high pass filter" is commonly used based on frequency rather than wavelength, so "high pass filter" refers to a short pass filter, not a long pass filter.
