Additionally, the incident surfaces are available with VIS 0° anti-reflective coatings. Due to their complex shapes, securing retroreflective prisms can sometimes be challenging. The retroreflective prism (corner cube prism) is used in applications where precise alignment is difficult or cumbersome. The retroreflective prism returns light to the direction of the incident light (light source) regardless of the orientation of the prism. Optical mirrors need to be oriented for vertical incidence to return light to the direction of the light source, but in the case of the retroreflective prism, as long as the light hits the incident surface, it will return to the light source direction regardless of how the prism is oriented. The retroreflective prism utilizes several internal reflections and functions even in cases of extreme incident angles.
