basic information
The prism for pulse compression is used for dispersion compensation in ultra-short pulse laser systems. This prism can be used inside the laser cavity to compensate for optics such as gain medium crystals, or outside the laser cavity (external resonator) to manipulate pulse characteristics. The external resonator, located outside, uses this prism to re-compress the pulse back to its original length after it has passed through other optical components in the system.
