Nonlinear optical crystals are used to achieve wavelengths that cannot be directly output by nonlinear frequency conversion of laser light sources. This includes commonly used titanium sapphire lasers, erbium-doped lasers, and frequency-doubled, tripled, and quadrupled wavelengths such as 532nm, 515nm, 400nm, 355nm, 343nm, and 266nm from Nd:YAG lasers.
