Fundamentals, Applications, and Future Technological Trends of High-Frequency Elastic Wave Devices
■ Lecturer Mochio Kadota, Ph.D., Senior Research Fellow, Graduate School of Engineering, Tohoku University After completing the Graduate School of Engineering at Tohoku University, he joined Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. In 2005, he became a Fellow (executive status) at the company. In February 2013, he was appointed as a Visiting Professor at Tohoku University, and in August 2014, he became a Specially Appointed Professor. In April 2018, he was promoted to Senior Research Fellow. While at Murata Manufacturing, he worked in the manufacturing division and successfully commercialized the world's only elastic surface wave (SAW) filter for televisions using zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films. He later transferred to the development division, where he successfully developed and commercialized numerous world-first SAW devices, including a compact quartz SH wave IF SAW filter, an ultra-compact end-face reflection type BGS wave filter for ETC, and TCSAW consisting of a flattened SiO2 film/high-density electrodes/LN and LT substrates.
