Investigation of Failures in Linux-equipped Devices [Case Studies of Investigation, Analysis, and Evaluation]
Experience in developing and evaluating embedded Linux, as well as experience in troubleshooting and analyzing issues! Here are some examples of incident response.
We would like to introduce a case where we conducted a failure investigation on a Linux-based device at the request of a device manufacturer. The company reported that their mass-produced devices were freezing while operating in the market and requested a resolution within one month, asking if MicroNet could perform failure analysis and modifications. We proceeded with the work on a schedule of one week for reproduction testing, one week for investigation and modifications, and two weeks for confirmation of the modifications, successfully resolving the issue within the requested timeframe by modifying the source code. 【Case Overview】 ■ Request: Analysis and modification of the freezing issue occurring in mass-produced devices while operating in the market. ■ Proposal: A schedule of one week for reproduction testing, one week for investigation and modifications, and two weeks for confirmation of the modifications. ■ Result: It was determined that an exception occurred within the kernel due to the influence of a timer interrupt, causing the freezing phenomenon. The source code was modified, and the issue was resolved within the requested timeframe. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
