◆Concerns about Red Rust Deterioration in Pipes at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital and Countermeasures If the pipes are deteriorating, problems such as red water and leaks may occur. The cause of this is red rust inside the pipes. Red rust is characterized by its rapid progression and its tendency to dissolve easily in water. The issue with red water is that it is difficult to notice its presence at an early stage. When thinking of red water, one might imagine water stained red, but in reality, even if red rust mixes with tap water, it does not easily change color. Another problem is "leakage." As red rust gradually flows into the water, it erodes the threaded parts and walls inside the pipes, leading to leaks when it reaches the outside. In medical facilities, leaks can lead to malfunctions of medical equipment and are also undesirable from a hygiene perspective. The occurrence of red rust also poses the risk of "red rust blockage," which can lead to poor water flow. Therefore, maintenance of water pipes has always been a concern at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital. The NMR Pipe Protector addresses such issues. In the next installment, which will be the final one, we will introduce how Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital resolved these problems through the introduction of the NMR Pipe Protector.
