In "Co-op Nomura Minami Ishikiri," located in Wakabayashi Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, which was built 43 years ago as of 2020, an NMR pipe protector was introduced in August 2001, 19 years ago. After 15 years of use, a deterioration diagnosis survey of the water supply pipes was conducted when the building was 39 years old. The investigation involved removing the water supply pipes from the secondary side of the elevated water tank and inside the residences. The report evaluated that "the progression of deterioration due to red rust inside the pipes has completely stopped, there is no blockage, the surface has turned black due to rust, and it has been confirmed that the pipes have been rehabilitated." Additionally, the dirt in the drainage pipes has decreased, allowing for a 30% reduction in the frequency of drainage pipe cleaning, which had previously been conducted once a year. Takemori Furuta, the maintenance officer of the condominium, stated, "Not only the water supply pipes but also the drainage pipes have been extended in their lifespan, and there is no longer a need for updates in the long-term repair plan," and added, "As the years go by, it will only become more financially challenging, so the benefit of not having to update the water supply pipes is extremely significant." An article on this topic has been published in the condominium management newspaper, and an excerpt will be introduced next time.
