An alternative to animal testing! Eye irritation testing method 'Vitrigel-EIT method'

This is a test method for eye irritation of chemicals that does not use animals, published as OECD TG No. 494.

The "Vitrigel-Eye Irritancy Test (Vitrigel-EIT method)" is a testing method used to evaluate the severity of damage caused by the attachment of chemical substances to the eyes. By dropping a chemical substance onto a corneal epithelial model and measuring the change in its TEER value with a specialized measuring device, it is possible to determine the presence or absence of eye irritation from the chemical substance in just 3 minutes. This testing method was included in June 2019 as OECD Test Guideline No. 494, an international standard method, and it is expected to be widely used for safety testing of cosmetics and other products around the world. [Test Method] ■ Drop the test substance onto the corneal model ■ Measure the change in TEER value for 3 minutes ■ Analyze the change in TEER value to determine the presence or absence of eye irritation *For more details, please refer to the external link page or feel free to contact us.
