The quantification of the pharmaceutical ingredient hypromellose is performed using gas chromatography with standard solutions of isopropyl iodide and iodomethane. Additionally, for the quantification of ethyl cellulose listed in the 17th Revised Edition of the Japanese Pharmacopoeia Second Supplement (June 2019), standard solutions with added ethyl iodide are used. Both are quantification reagents that comply with the purity tests and content standards specified in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia.
