CT-SMAC (SEL)/SS V Agar Medium
Improve the differentiation and selectivity of SS agar! Please use it for fecal testing of food workers.
This medium is a selective isolation medium for EHEC O-157, as well as Salmonella and Shigella. As part of fecal examinations for food handlers, tests for Salmonella species and Shigella carriers are conducted. Generally, SS medium is used for these tests. We have now developed a product called "SS V," an improved version of "SS Extra 2," which enhances the colony morphology of the target bacteria, Salmonella species, as well as the differentiation ability and selectivity for Shigella. In addition to this medium, our company offers three types of SS media with different selectivity for clinical microbiological testing of feces. Please choose according to your desired selectivity.
basic information
The history of Salmonella in humans began when Salmonella Enteritidis was isolated from acute gastroenteritis and identified as the cause of the enteritis (1888). This discovery is said to be an immortal achievement in medical history, not only for being the first to isolate Salmonella as a food poisoning bacterium but also for revealing that so-called food poisoning is caused by bacteria.
