They show a high incidence rate, especially in immunocompromised patients, and can also be a cause of nosocomial infections. Major causative agents of candidiasis include Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida krusei, and Candida glabrata; however, in recent years, strains exhibiting multidrug resistance to antifungal agents have been isolated, making Candida auris a significant concern. "Chromoagar Candida Plus" allows for the characteristic coloration of Candida colonies, enabling the screening of not only the major Candida species but also C. auris based on the color and shape of the colonies.
