In June 2013, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare revised the "Guidelines for Preventing Low Back Pain in the Workplace" for the first time in 19 years, and is working on preventing low back pain in the workplace. Within these guidelines, the following is stipulated regarding the handling of heavy objects: Handling of Heavy Objects by Human Power - Male workers aged 18 and over should strive to handle objects weighing no more than approximately 40% of their body weight solely by human power. For female workers aged 18 and over, the weight should be limited to 60% of what male workers can handle. - When handling objects that exceed the weight limit, efforts should be made to have two or more workers with minimal height differences perform the task in an appropriate posture. In this case, the weight should be evenly distributed among the workers. Improvement of Packaging and Indication of Weight - If the packaging is large or the weight is substantial, it should be divided into smaller, lighter portions. Additionally, Article 64-2 of the Labor Standards Act and Article 2 of the Female Labor Standards Regulations stipulate the following: Female workers aged 18 and over are prohibited from handling heavy objects weighing 30 kg or more for continuous work, or 20 kg or more for continuous work. *For more details, please download the catalog or feel free to contact us.
