In the field of organic synthesis, reactions such as Suzuki Coupling, Sonogashira Coupling, Heck Reaction, and Hartwig-Buchwald Coupling, which are very useful methods, are catalyzed by palladium complexes with trialkylphosphines as ligands. However, trialkylphosphines are prone to oxidation in air, making them very difficult to handle.
