"AquaChrom ECC" is an enzyme substrate medium that allows for the screening of E. coli and coliforms in water and food samples. E. coli and coliforms are hygiene indicator bacteria used to assess the contamination status of food and the environment. They provide information to determine whether food has been handled hygienically and to assess its edibility. If food has not been handled hygienically, there is a higher likelihood of contamination by bacteria that can cause food poisoning, increasing the risk of foodborne illness. AquaChrom ECC allows for the visual determination of E. coli (green) and other coliforms (yellow) under visible light.
