**Introduction of Non-Heating Magnetic Couplings** Magnetic couplings used in seal-less devices. They are convenient components that replace mechanical seals and gland packing, but we believe there are manufacturers and users who are troubled by the heat generated by their magnetic force. For such customers, we would like to introduce a non-heating magnetic coupling that uses a non-metallic shroud (partition component). By using non-metallic PEEK resin or ceramic for the shroud material of our magnetic coupling (product name MINEX-S), we can prevent heat generation. Since PEEK resin and ceramic are insulators, they do not interfere with the magnetic field created by the magnets, and eddy currents do not occur. Therefore, there is no heat generated due to eddy currents. We have summarized the materials and the presence or absence of heat generation in the attached document. Depending on the frame number, the axial dimension is reduced by approximately 30% (compared to our standard products). It is ideal for compacting positioning devices and servo-driven devices. Example) Size 24 standard ROTEX GS total length 78mm vs. GS compact total length 54mm 【2】Increase in allowable rotational speed For size 24 (rated torque 60Nm) and above, an axial slot hub is adopted. Three service factors to consider when selecting a Joe type!
When it comes to KTR's representative lineup, the flexible jaw type coupling ROTEX stands out. The selection process is not particularly difficult, but there are safety factors to consider. It is necessary to select a coupling that meets the requirement of motor rated torque * safety factor ≦ coupling allowable torque. This time, I will introduce three points! 1. Ambient temperature ⇒ It is a fact that the heat resistance is lower compared to couplings made of metal, such as gear couplings and disc spring couplings (up to 120°C). The polyurethane spider responsible for power transmission loses its transmission capability as the temperature rises, so a larger safety factor is required. 2. Start-stop and forward-reverse rotation frequency coefficient ⇒ During starting, stopping, and forward-reverse rotation, a large torque is applied to the spider, causing significant deformation of the resin internally. If overload exceeds the allowable value without considering this, it may lead to deformation of the spider, which means damage to the coupling. 3. Load coefficient and application factor ⇒ KTR products are used in various industries, and based on that experience, we establish safety factors for each application. Generally, when selecting a joker coupling made of polyurethane resin, it is necessary to verify the compatibility of the type of operating oil that may scatter and the chemical substances with the resin components. Attached is the oil resistance list included in our catalog. Standard ROTEX spiders do not have resistance to phosphate ester-based operating oils or chlorinated hydrocarbon-based operating oils. In such cases, solutions using high chemical resistance polyamide resin, such as the following, are effective: - BoWex M: A gear coupling made of metal and resin using a polyamide sleeve. - Changing the ROTEX spider to polyamide material or PEEK material.
