MicroTCA, which was born as a mezzanine card for AdvancedTCA boards, retains the hot-swappable functionality and status monitoring features, all housed in a compact chassis. It connects not only via Ethernet but also PCI-Express, making it suitable for a wide range of fields, including communication devices, medical equipment, and aerospace/military applications. With a common architecture to AdvancedTCA, transitioning to larger capacities in the future will be easy if needed.
