It is a resin that will continue to be used by leveraging these features in the future. However, the current mainstream products are "NMP solution" or "a mixed solution of NMP and water." *NMP = N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone In recent years, "NMP" has raised concerns about its "toxicity," and it has been listed as a restricted substance under the "REACH regulations" in Europe, and it is expected to have an impact in Japan as well. NMP-free water-based polyimide varnish can contribute to "avoiding the use restrictions of NMP" and "reducing VOCs for environmental improvement." This product is expected to further enhance performance and reduce environmental impact in fields requiring high heat resistance and chemical resistance. It has excellent handling properties due to its stability at room temperature and low viscosity, comparable to general functional coatings. It maintains the same performance as before while enhancing adhesion to various substrates and allowing for coating with a thicker film than before!
Polyimide varnish has characteristics of high heat resistance and chemical resistance, making it suitable for a wide range of fields and applications, including high-temperature sliding parts and related components for automobiles and aircraft, heat-resistant coatings, special adhesives, and wire insulation. This resin will continue to be used in the future, leveraging these features. Our company utilizes polyamic acid generated by regenerating polyimide film, which becomes unnecessary during the processing of polyimide film, through a unique chemical treatment to create an "NMP completely free aqueous solution." This product, when applied to a substrate and dried and cured, forms a polyimide resin coating with an imidization rate of over 90%. We are pleased to introduce a new grade of water-based polyimide varnish with improved flexibility. Compared to conventional products, it exhibits better adhesion to various substrates and is less prone to cracking. This document presents the coating properties of the new grade product. However, this developed product is an NMP completely free, water-based polyimide varnish that utilizes polyamic acid generated by chemically processing polyimide film. (Note: NMP: N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone) After being applied to a substrate, this developed product forms a polyimide resin coating with an imidization rate of over 90% upon drying and curing.
