Nittobo’s Glass Fiber Reinforced Transparent Material (developmental product) is a next-generation composite that fuses the structural strength of glass fiber with the superior light transmittance of transparent resin. Conventional FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) faced the challenge of becoming opaque due to light reflecting at the interface where the refractive indices of the resin and glass fiber differ. This product achieves unprecedented levels of transparency by utilizing precision control technology to match the refractive indices of both materials to the limit, thereby suppressing interface reflection. The greatest advantage lies in simultaneously overcoming the lack of strength in transparent plastics and the brittleness/fragility of tempered glass. While being lightweight, it possesses high rigidity and "toughness" that prevents shattering upon impact, making it suitable for structural components where safety is paramount. This high-performance material resolves the design dilemma of requiring light transmission without compromising strength, expanding possibilities as a tough, lightweight alternative to glass and acrylic.
