The "Development of SLAM Autonomous Driving Technology for Lunar Adaptation" has been continuously adopted in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's "Space Unmanned Construction Innovative Technology Development Promotion Project."
Panasonic Advanced Technology Co., Ltd. and Taisei Corporation will continue to conduct research and development on "the development of SLAM autonomous driving technology for lunar adaptation," stepping up from the F/S to the R&D Stage. This research and development has been adopted as part of the "Space Construction Innovation Project" under the "Space Unmanned Construction Innovative Technology Development Promotion Project" conducted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. To achieve autonomous driving of construction machinery in the lunar environment, where positioning information cannot be obtained from GNSS and other positioning satellites, it is necessary to accurately acquire the position information of construction machinery by other means. Our company has developed and demonstrated self-position estimation technology for construction machinery using LiDAR SLAM technology, enabling autonomous movement of construction machinery in ground uneven environments where positioning satellites cannot be used. In this research and development, we aim to build autonomous driving technology adaptable to special environments like the lunar surface by integrating landmark SLAM technology that utilizes artificial feature points with various information obtained from cameras. Our company will continue to promote further research and development towards establishing technology for achieving autonomous driving of various autonomous mobility, including construction machinery.
